Enthusiastic, informed and articulate young professionals are sought for an exciting Rotary sponsored 4-week vocational and cultural visit to Finland from April 21st to May 21st of 2013. Through Rotary’s world renown Group Study Exchange Program, local residents (non-Rotarians) have the opportunity to foster international awareness and understanding through an exchange that involves team members sharing information about their own country while experiencing the customs, vocations and lifestyle of another.

The Group Study Exchange Program of the Rotary Foundation provides a unique opportunity for young men and women between the ages of 25 and 40 to meet with professional peers in another country to enhance occupational and cultural knowledge. A dynamic itinerary with a focus on international adventure, education & global understanding provide team members with an amazing once in a lifetime experience.

While in Finland, team members will stay with Rotarians who will provide meals, lodging and group travel in the host district. The Rotary Foundation provides a round trip air ticket. Team members pay only for personal and incidental expenses.

Rotary District 1400 ~ Northern Finland

The District of Santa Claus!

Spanning the northern half of Finland, District 1400 encompasses 34 Rotary clubs and borders the Gulf of Bothnia, Sweden, Norway, and Russia. The largest city is Oulu, with a population of 150,000. It is the sixth most populous city in Finland, and sits on the Finnish Western coast. Northern Finland boasts pristine lakes, dense forests, and scenic vistas. The northern part of the district is Lapland, home to Sami, the indigenous population of northern Scandinavia.

…and of course, there is always a traditional Finnish Sauna!
