Welcome, welcome… come on in! Whether you have come here directly, with purpose, or whether you have found yourself here having followed your interests, clicking link after link to arrive here, it does not matter; I welcome you to the website of the Rotary Club of Thunder Bay (Fort William).
We are a small group of individuals who enjoy working together, as a group, to accomplish great things. Our successful Rotary House Lottery (which requires thousands of volunteer hours) has allowed us to give back to the community for 25 years. Whether it is funds towards an Angioplasty Unit at the hospital or assisting an individual; whether the need is large or small, all are meaningful.
Our interest on the International front has been an Eye Clinic and Sweet Water Wells in India; and is presently, a renovation to the Regent Primary School in Sierra Leone. We also fight the battle to eradicate polio once and for all, in conjunction with all Rotarians around the world.
Lest you should think we are all work and no play; there are plenty of opportunities for fellowship; whether at meetings (with guest speakers who inform and entertain us) or at special events throughout the year.
This year we are looking forward to starting a Satellite Club whose target membership will be young professionals. With its less formal meetings and more short term projects it is thought that this will be a better fit for younger prospective Rotarians than our current structure.
I invite you to attend a meeting (first meal is on us); to get to know us and decide whether we are the group of people with which you would like to share your talents. Please consider joining us for as the old Japanese proverb goes, “None of us is as strong as all of us”.
